As the trumpets sounded and the jazz bands played, Yvette Lea McDonald gently ascended into the welcoming arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 25th, 2017.
Born on March 16, 1947 in her beloved town of New Orleans, LA, Yvette was determined to make a difference in the lives of those around her. An alumnus of LSU, Yvette began her 33 year career in various departments at Georgia Tech. During her tenure she established the first chapter of The Christian Sorority, Alpha Delta Chi and served as a representative of the College for the Olympic Committee in 1996. She retired as the Director of the Undergraduate Program in the College of Management. In addition to these accomplishments, Yvette served 12 years on the City Council of Jonesboro, GA.
Yvette is survived by her loving husband, Larry McDonald, her children Jody Whigham (Jennifer), Tamara Adelberg (Larry), Tommy McDonald (Heather), and 4 beautiful grandchildren, Joshua and Kendra Adelberg, Hannah and Davis McDonald.
We grieve the loss of her beautiful smile and gentle touch but celebrate her homecoming in heaven.
Yvette’s funeral and visitation will be held at Alexander’s Funeral home, 2721 Hwy 129S (across from Jackie Jones Ford) Cleveland, GA 30528.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 28th from 5 until 8 and again on Saturday, July 29 from 10 until 11. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 29th at 11 am with the Reverends Daniel Nash, Wayne Wilkes, and Teddy Baker officiating. There will be a food reception at the funeral home immediately following the service.
