Alexander Smith

Alexander Smith, 86, of Clermont, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at his residence.

          Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Reverend Jimmy Manders officiating.  Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

          Born on July 7, 1931 in Atlanta he was the son of the late Alex Smith Sr. and Georgia Oliver Smith. Mr. Smith was retired from General Motors and was of the Pentecostal faith.

          In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Smallwood Smith; daughter, Vicky Lively and son in law, Alan Lively; sisters, Katherine Dempsey, Hazel Mercier and Ollie Mae Grimes.

          Mr. Smith is survived by his son and daughter in law, Steve (Ann) Smith of Gillsville; daughter and son in law, Julie (Randy) Whisnant of Alto; sister and brother in law, Brenda (Jerry) Gunter of Atlanta; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
