Myrette Autry Bennett Hough

Myrette Autry Bennett Hough, age 95 of Cornelia, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017.

Born in White County, Georgia on September 6, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Ola Belle Alexander Autry and the late Elbert A. Autry.  Mrs. Hough was the owner and operator of  The Clothesline in Cornelia, Georgia and Kings Mountain, North Carolina.  Rhette, as she was affectionately known, enjoyed playing golf for many years, dancing and a wonderful life with her family.  Being a very talented seamstress, Rhette could design and create without patterns.  She was a blessing to all who knew her and a caring friend to many. A loving, devoted mother and grandmother, she was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cornelia for 67 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Bennett; second husband, Joe Hough; grandchildren, Brian Dockins and Natalie Bennett; brothers, Hubert Autry, Leroy Autry and Andrew Autry; sisters, Flora Belle Kirby and Dot Rogers.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Judie & Russ Vinson of Cornelia; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom & Charlesean Bennett and Mike & Brenda Bennett all of Rome; grandchildren, Holly Perry of Demorest, Melannie Herrin of Cornelia, Lori Poorman of Collierville, Tennessee, Jeff Bennett, Amy Schriever and Micah Johnson all of Rome; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Hoyt Autry of Cleveland; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Saturday, August 26, 2017 in the Chapel of McGahee Griffin and Stewart with Rev. David Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from noon until the funeral hour on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
