Master Sgt. Charles Edward Grant, Sr.,

Master Sgt./Retired Charles E. Grant, Sr., 93 of Oakwood passed away Monday October 16, 2017.

A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mr. Grant was the son of the late William Luther (Boot) Grant and Dosie Jane McKinnie Grant.  He was retired from the United States Army with over 30 years of service.  Mr. Grant served in three wars.  World War II, Korean War and Vietnam.  Wounded in World War II, he received a bronze star and also received Purple Hearts during World War II and Korea.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oakwood.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Teresa Grant, Oakwood; Rev. Charles E., Jr. and Donna Grant, Clermont; daughter, Carolyn Grant Richardson, Pendergrass; grandchildren, Chad Grant, Mark Glass, Bradley Grant, Brandi Mize, Jonathan Grant, Stephanie Richardson; great grandchildren, Austin, Wyatt, Xander, Autumn, Grant, Presley, Abigail, Kileigh; 2 great great grandchildren along with a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Grant is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Alma White Grant.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday October 19, 2017 at the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Rev. Franklin Grant and Rev. Randall Reed will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday October 18, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
