A son of the late Rev. Clyde and Laura Finley Edmonds, he was born August 11, 1929 in Stephens County. He retired from General Motors in 1985 after 31 years of service, after retirement he spent his remaining years working on the farm. He served on the board of directors of Habersham County Farm Bureau for 20 years and was inducted to the Habersham Agriculture Hall of Fame in 2010. He was a member of Glade Creek Baptist Church where he served in numerous positions. He really enjoyed spending time with family, NASCAR racing and being and avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by a brother Verner Edmonds, sister Lena Edmonds Settle and a niece Vicki Settle.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years Martha Anderson Edmonds of the home, a daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Tommy Gunn of Demorest, two sons and daughter-in-law Glenn and Janice Tilson Edmonds and Maurice Edmonds of Mount Airy, brother Jack Edmonds, sister and brother-in-law Reba and Lloyd Campbell of Winder, sister-in-law Hazel Anderson, grandchildren Tina and Shannon Smith of Clermont, Kim and Joey Reynolds of Woodstock, Tracy and Matt Newton of Mount Airy, Kevin and Charity Edmonds of Ball Ground, Nathaniel and Jessica Edmonds of Macon and eleven great-grand children.
Funeral services will be held Saturday October 28, 2017 at 2 P.M. at Glade Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Kevin Edmonds and the Reverend Michael Justus officiating. The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday from 5 P.M. til 8 P.M.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers and should be at the funeral home by 1:00 P.M. Shannon Smith, Houston Smith, Nathaniel Edmonds, Noah Edmonds, Joey Reynolds, and Matt Newton.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Glade Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
