Peggy Sue Cooper Bayard

Peggy Sue Cooper Bayard, 86, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.

Born on September 30, 1931 in Gainesville, Ga she was the daughter of H. Guy Cooper and Verdell Aiken Cooper. She graduated from Gainesville High School.

Peggy was a dedicated wife, mother and friend who was so proud of serving as a Marine Corp wife for 28 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bobby James Cooper and sister, Nina Palmer.

Mrs. Bayard is survived by her husband of 68 years, Henry Dillard Bayard, sons, Hiram Sidney Bayard (Tina), Henry Sonny Bayard, Jr; daughter, Tera Sue Bayard (Kathy); grandsons, Waylon Bayard (Kimberly), Dustin Chicurel-Bayard (Miriam); granddaughters, Olivia Cantwell (Kevin) and Betsy Sue Bayard; great grandsons, Kingston Bayard, Brenden Tyler Branson II; great granddaughters, Mia Pierce Cantwell, Maggie Rose Cantwell; sister, Ann Denard (Wendell); sister in law, Darlene Cooper and many special nieces and nephews.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001-6792.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, for presiding over the Funeral service. Miriam Chicurel-Bayard for providing the beautiful special music, and all the staff from Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, who provided professional and loving care for Mrs. Bayard,  as well as,  caregivers, Joy Underwood Denton and Brenda Tanner.
