Bobbie was born in Gainesville, Georgia on August 20, 1942 and passed away September 20, 2017. She is a graduate of Gainesville High School Class of 1960. She knew from childhood that she wanted to be a teacher and attended three universities: Brenau University (BA) on a full scholarship from Pacolet Manufacturing Company, Emory University (MEd), and University of Louisville (PhD). Her first employment was teaching at Briarcliff High School in DeKalb County. After graduating from Emory University, she joined the Georgia State Department of Education as a Utilization Specialist. She visited school systems around the state with a TV technical support team, demonstrating to teachers and school administrators how to use educational television resources in their instructional programs.  After moving to Birmingham in 1979, she started her own company, Bobbie Jones and Associates, that provided computer training and consulting in both Alabama and Georgia until her retirement in 2003. She spoke of first understanding the gospel and becoming a Christian as a young child in Vacation Bible School. In Birmingham, she was an active member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church (PCA) and the activities of the Deeper Life Sunday School Class. She loved collecting depression glass, flower gardening and travel.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Warren Jones, Sr., PhD; son Warren Jones, Jr., PhD (Rebecca, MD); grandsons, Ian and Lex; and granddaughters, Joy and Eve. A Memorial Service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home North Riverside Chapel, 989 Riverside Drive, Gainesville, Georgia 30501 on Saturday November 4, 2017.  Visitation and a light lunch will be provided beginning at 11:00 A.M. followed by a video of the funeral that was held in Birmingham on September 24.
