William Michael “Mike” Shiflett

William Michael “Mike” Shiflett, age 62 of Cornelia, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at Habersham Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Born in Anderson, South Carolina on June 1, 1955, he was a son of Odell Shiflett. Mike was a security officer for Piedmont College, owner and operator of Michael’s Jewelers for over 30 years, head umpire and referee for the Habersham County Recreational Depart also for over 30 years, and a driving instructor for Lanier Technical College. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and church softball umpire. 

Surviving are wife of 42 years, Debi Wells Shiflett of Cornelia; son and daughter-in-law, Josh Shiflett and Karen Parker Shiflett of Cleveland; grandchildren, Pic Shiflett, Will Rentfrow, and Mackenzie Rickett; father and stepmother, Odell & Evelyn Shiflett of Central, SC; brother, Greg Shiflett of Six Mile, SC; sisters, Debra Wilhoit and Peggy Wright both of Liberty, SC; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.  

A memorial visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 4, 2017, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Josh Shiflett, PO Box 725, Cornelia, GA 30531. All proceeds will be used for Mike’s grandchildren’s future education.
