Martha Catherine Woodward

Obituary Date: Sunday, November 26, 2017

Loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Martha Woodward, age 70, of Dahlonega, passed away the morning of November 26, 2017.

A beautiful woman inside and out--the wife of Ren Woodward and mother to David Woodward, Jerry Jarrard, Jr, Stacy Jarrard, and Jody Jarrard Anderson. Known by all of us as Nanny and Mama, she is survived by 10 grandchildren--whom she called her babies: Cody Mark Anderson, Jonathan Holden Allison, Luke Reynold Allison, Brittany Christine Wojohn, Theodore Davidson Jarrard, Caleb Gunner Jarrard, John Colton Jarrard, McKenzie Grace Jarrard, Brianna Olivia Jarrard, and Luke Wyatt Jarrard. Her sisters: Geneva Reece, Mary Edmondson Cantrell, and Geraldine James. Preceding her in death is her brother Winford "Corkey " Fields, her mother, Ruby Fields, and step-son, David Woodward.

All of these are listed as they were her life's work as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and loving wife. Devoted to her children by giving all of herself to their benefit and her grand children as an extended mother. The fruit of her life is found in the goodness of her children, her family, and the many relationships developed over her time with us on this side of life. Her mark on this earth was through her many sacrifices in giving and doing for others. She was our prayer warrior and guarded our hearts when we had no shield of our own. She was the ear for us to talk when we had no one else to listen. She was our eyes when we could not see. She was our beauty when we felt like we had none. She was our safety when our worlds came a part. Because she is our wife, mother, and friend, we will miss her intensely, yet we are destined for goodness through her grace and sacrifice. Her main desire was to spend time with her babies.

She is now with the one who is able to keep us from falling. “We thank you, Father, for the gift of her life, and may the Lord cover us and heal our loss.”

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 PM Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Siloam Baptist Church. The Rev. Tony Allison, The Rev. Lyman Caldwell, The Rev. Casey Robinson, and The Rev. Andy Caldwell will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Monday and 2-4 and 6-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
