Shirley Josephine Rogers

Shirley Josephine Rogers, age 81, died of natural caused on Sunday, December 3, 2017, in Flowery Branch, Georgia.

Shirley is survived by her sister, Mary Krahn, 82; brother, Earl Simonson, 77; children, Barry Simonson, 62, Linda Mead, 60, Gayle Hudson, 58, and James VerBeek, 57; 16 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Alvin Simonson, Calvin Simonson, and Leonard Simonson, as well as her daughter, Cheryl Shipp.

Shirley was born on July 31, 1936 in Clarkston, Michigan to Thomas Simonson of Birmingham, Michigan and Hazel McDowell of Olive Hill, Kentucky. She grew up in Pinkney, Michigan and moved to Georgia with her children in 1960 where she lived out the rest of her life.

Shirley enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a passion for decorating and loved anything with flowers on it. As a young woman, she was in a motorcycle club and worked for the circus as a stunt performer riding motorcycles.

A Memorial Service for Shirley is scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Hillside chapel Funeral Home 1190 McEver Rd. Gainesville, GA.
