Brenda Diane Pope Burgess

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Brenda Diane Pope Burgess, age 74 of Athens, Georgia who entered into rest Saturday, January 13, 2018.  Mrs. Burgess was born in Gastonia, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Raymond Lee Pope and Juanita Watson Pope.  Mrs. Burgess was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse having retired from St. Mary’s Hospital after thirty-five years of service.

Survivors include her husband Robert R. Burgess of Athens.  Son, Kevin “Skip” Fincannon and his wife Lisa of Athens, step-daughter, Lora Busbee of Commerce, sister, Barbara Minish of Commerce and a brother, Raymond Pope of Statham.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.  Mrs. Burgess came from a very close and loving family.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
