Dr. Elner Cordingley Bellon, 87, former resident of Loudon, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018 of medical complications.
Born in Ashton, Idaho, Elener Cordingley met Jerry Bellon at Idaho State in Pocatello. They were married in 1950. A few years later Elner and Jerry moved to California and then Tennessee. Elner completed her Doctorate at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. During her career, Elner worked in primary schools and universities. While in Tennessee, Elner and her late husband, Jerry, established a successful consulting group dedicated to improving schools and the advancement of shared leadership. They worked with school districts across the nation.
In an effort to acknowledge the people who helped them become educators, the Bellons funded scholarships designed to help promising education students. They funded the Babe Caccia Scholarship and the Jerry & Elner Scholarship at Idaho State University.
Elner was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry J. Bellon. She is survived by their children, Lee Ann, Toni, and Joseph Bellon; her grandchildren Matthew Huddleston, Julia Huddleston, Reid Jupin, Sara Jupin, Zoe Bellon; and one great grandchild.
The family has elected not to hold a public viewing or funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Elner may be made to the Drs. Jerry J. and Elner C. Bellon Scholarship Endowment at the Idaho State University Foundation, 921 S. 8th Ave., Stop 8050, Pocatello, ID 83209.
