Obituary Date: Tuesday, January 30, 2018

Sara “Alberta” Tomlin

One hundred years and seven months ago, "Alberta" was born in Cape May, NJ. She died peacefully on January 30, 2018 at The Oaks at Limestone, Gainesville, Georgia extended care facility following a lengthy decline in her health.

After being raised in Cape May, NJ, she and her husband, Jim, settled in Claymont, Delaware where they raised three daughter, Barbara, Sandra, and Janis. Alberta was a beautiful person, both inside and out, who cared for everyone who knew her. Family was all important to Alberta as she lost both her mother and father early. A "consummate homemaker" she excelled in being a helpmate to her husband, Jim, and a role model to her three daughters to love the Lord and serve Him. She was well known for her beautiful sewing skills and loved knitting afghans for us all. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville, Georgia.

Alberta was predeceased by her parents, husband of 64 years James Hand Tomlin, daughter Sandra Lee Ayers, sister Lillian Ingram and brother Edward Smith.

Survivors include daughters Barbara Ray (Roger) of Gainesville, Georgia; Janis Kawa of Cape May, New Jersey; granddaughters Susan Wilkinson (Tommy) of Black Mountain, North Carolina, Kristine Ramsey (Tim) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Nancy Federico (Joe)  of Danielsville, Georgia, Karen Aspey (Louis) of Morgantown, West Virginia, Kimberly King (Dale) of Richmond, Virginia; grandsons James Ayers (Missy) of Acworth, Georgia and Rusty Ray (Tracy) of Cumming, Georgia. She is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the staff and Hospice nurses at the Oaks for their loving care.

A graveside service for family will be held at "The Old Brick" Presbyterian Church in Cape May, New Jersey at a later date. Online condolences can be made at www.memorialparkfuneralhomes.com. Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel, 989 Riverside Drive, Gainesville, Georgia 30501. 770-297-6200.
