Mary Ellen Hatcher

Obituary Date: Friday, February 9, 2018

Our precious mother, Mary Ellen Hatcher of Gainesville, lost her long battle with Lewy Body Dementia on February 9, 2018 at the age of 80.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. Interment will follow at Yellow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the funeral home. 

Mary was born on March 4, 1937 in Commerce, Georgia to the late Jordan J. Ramey and the late Rena Ellen Burrell Ramey. She worked for 35 years at Belk, first starting at the store located on the square, then moving to Sherwood Plaza and finally ending up at Lake Shore Mall. 

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Johnny C. Hatcher; her parents Jordan and Rena Ramey; brother Clyde Ramey; brother Wilburn Ramey; sister Alma Roberts; sister Louise Roberts; brother Leroy Ramey. 
Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Ashio Hatcher of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sheila Hatcher of Flowery Branch; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and David Adam of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Kevin Peavy of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Josh Trawick of Gainesville; granddaughter, Angel (Randall) Cooley of Mobile, Alabama; granddaughter, Jennifer (Dusty) Kersh of Flowery Branch; grandson, Josh (Carly) Adam of Cleveland; grandson, Tyler Adam and his special friend Sherrie of Gainesville, granddaughter, Alexis Trawick of Gainesville, grandsons, Jackson and Jonathan Trawick of Gainesville; granddaughter Maelie Peavy of Gainesville; great-grandchild, Bailey Moore, Boston Kersh, Bristol Kersh, Colton Adam, Cooper Adam, Brayden Adam, Ethan Adam and Liam Adam; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Northeast Georgia Hospice, especially Jill, Michelle, Katie, Patti, and Dustie, for their loving care of our mom. The family would also like to thank Lanier Lodge, especially the staff in the memory care unit. We would also like to thank Aunt Maxine and Uncle Benny Hatcher for their love and support to the very end.
