Frank M. Matra

Obituary Date: Thursday, March 8, 2018

Frank M. Matra, a retired Construction Manager at Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant for Con Edison, New York died Thursday, March 8 at his home in Dacula, Georgia. He was eighty?four years old. Mr. Matra was born October 16, 1933 in Tarrytown, New York to John Matra and Pasqualina Mortelletti Matra. He was one of five boys; Albert, Joseph, Anthony, and John who have predeceased him.

He graduated from North Tarrytown High School with honors and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict where he spent four years aboard the U.S.S. White Marsh LSD?8 and U.S.S. Summit County LST 1146. After returning from the Navy, he attended Stevens Institute in New Jersey where he earned a B.S. in Engineering.

His wife of thirty?four years survives him, Margo Nicol Matra, originally of North Tarrytown as well. She has two children Jodie Stewart and two grandchildren Dylan and Sydney Zurita of Dacula, Georgia and Todd Stewart and wife Sue and grandchild Gary of Southport, Connecticut. Two sons also survive Frank. Frank Matra and his wife Lauraine of Poughkeepsie, New York with two grandchildren Dean and Ava and Raymond and wife Cyndi of Pleasant Valley, New York.

Frank and Margo retired to Punta Gorda, Florida where they lived for twenty?seven years and were very active in the Italian American Club, Elks, and Christ Community United Methodist Church. Frank enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and going on cruises with Margo and friends. Relocation to Georgia in 2016 was due to health challenges to be with family.

There will be a 1:00 p.m. service at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida on Friday, March 30, with military honors to celebrate the life of Frank M. Matra.
