Mary Rosalyn Taft Barfield Thompson

Mrs. Mary Rosalyn Taft Barfield Thompson, age 88 of Nicholson died Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Brookside Assisted Living.  Mrs. Thompson was born in Waverly Hall, GA to the late, Louis and Agnes Viola Post Taft.  She was a retired elementary school teacher at Muscogee County School System, she is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Regent New Members Columbus Chapter, she was also known for her puns and corny jokes.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson is also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Thompson and daughter, Rosalyn Stanford.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Dewald Dethlefs of Nicholson; son, Thomas Maurice Barfield of Rock Hill, SC; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7^th at 2:00 PM from the Commerce First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Duke and Rev. Mike McAfee officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1-2 PM.
