James Cornelious McLeroy, age 79, of Athens, GA passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018.
Born on July 02, 1938 in Madison County, GA, Mr. McLeroy was the son of the late Jessie and Emma Spence McLeroy. He was a Military Policeman in the United States Army and was preceded in death by a brother, Jessy McLeroy and sister, Vivan McLeroy.
Survivors include son, James C. McLeroy, Jr., Athens; daughters, Susan McLeroy, Athens, Teresa McLeroy, Jackson Co., Jessica Smith, Elberton; brother, Early McLeroy, SC; son, James Tony Herrin, Madison Co.; 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Friday, March 23, 2018 at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Hagwood and Rev. Jeff Looney officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel M. Baptist Church Cemetery beside Robert and Thelma Woods who raised him. The family will receive friends 10 am - 12 noon Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
