D. Harris Hughes

D. Harris Hughes, Sr, age 83, of Biloxi, Mississippi, formerly of Clarkesville, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, following an extended illness.

Mr. Hughes was born on February 15, 1935, in Atlanta, Georgia; a son of the late Dillard and Ruth Hughes. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Miles Hughes. Mr. Hughes retired from AT&T Long Line Division with 30 plus years of loyal and dedicated service. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Barbara Ann Kirkpatrick Hughes of Biloxi, MS; daughters: Teresa Ann Hughes of Biloxi, MS, Suszanne Brooks of Peachtree City, GA, and Frances Hughes of Brevard, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Dillard Harris Hughes, Jr. and Juana of Lawrenceville, GA; and grandchildren: Emory Hughes, Norman Brooks, Harrison Brooks, Sarah Hughes, Will Michaels, Mason Michaels, Kris Michaels, and Katie Michaels.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Mr. Dillard Harris Hughes, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Mr. Herb Jones officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at the funeral home.
