Cleveland Funeral Home announced that William "Bill" Joseph Morris passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 after battling an extended illness for some time.
Bill was born on July 7, 1927 to the late Albert Clayton Morris and Lotus Hulsey in Laurel, Mississippi. After high school, Bill served his country for some time in both the Navy and the US Air Force before returning to Mississippi to obtain a College Degree from Mississippi State University as a Mechanical Engineer. He used these skills for many years while he worked as a Mechanical Engineer for the federal government before moving to Cleveland in 1979. Bill was a very active member in the Cleveland community where he was a member on Cleveland United Methodist Church and at one point served as a President for the White County Kiwanis Club.
In addition to both parents, Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife, June Morris; Brother, Harold Morris; and Sister, Frances Grace.
He is survived by brothers, David (Veta) Morris of Lake City, Florida; Albert (Jessie) Morris of Alachua, Florida; and James (Joyce) Morris of Graniteville, South Carolina. Sisters, Martha (Albert) Cassidy of Cross City, Florida; and Patricia (Chuck) Payne of Utica, Michigan. Bill is also survived by two very special long time friends, Frank and Linda Russell of Titusville, Florida. In addition, Bill is survived by a host of nieces and nephews that he cared for deeply.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, March 3, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Cleveland Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Keen officiating. The family of Mr. Morris will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 P.M. on the same day. Interment will follow the service in Yonah View Memorial Gardens.
