Donald Andrew 'Andy' Slaton

Donald Andrew “Andy” Slaton, age 47 of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018 following an extended illness.

Born in Gainesville, Georgia on December 31, 1970, he was a son of the late Kay Morrison Ellis & Mr. Donald Benny Slaton of Baldwin, Georgia. Mr. Slaton was a truck driver for many years and was better known as “Wide Load” on his CB handle. Andy was a member of the Skitts Mountain Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by aunts & uncles, Bernice & Roy Gough, Claude Coker, Fay & Otis Simmons, Barbara Jean & Jim Bowman, Joel Tench, Esther & Wilton Brady, Kenny & Carolyn Ellis, & Jody Ellis.

In addition to his father, survivors include his son, Benjamin Andrew Emmett Slaton of Winder, GA; sisters, Angela Kay Taylor of Cleveland, GA; Amy Leigh Watson of Mt. Airy, GA; step-father, Rev. Jim Ellis of Gainesville, GA; aunts & uncles, Willa Lee Coker of Demorest, GA; Valvoreth & Jimmy Echols of Lula, GA; Sam & Judy Slaton of Hiawassee, GA; Lynn Tench of Alto, Ga; Charles & Lynda Ellis of Clermont, GA; Judy Ellis Adams & Norman Adams of Dahlonega, GA;  several nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Skitts Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Kyle Savage and Rev. Drew Cantrell officiating.

A private family inurnment will follow in the Morrison Family Cemetery.
