Anna Margaret (Williams) Ogletree

Obituary Date: Wednesday, May 9, 2018

Anna Margaret (Williams) Ogletree, 86, formerly of Buford, GA, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Garden Ranch Senior Care in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Margaret and her son Donnie moved to Colorado Springs in 2014 to be closer to her son David and his wife Adele.

Margaret was born September 3, 1931 to Jesse and Mattie Williams. She was the youngest of their three daughters.  She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and primarily raised in Washington D.C. Margaret is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Thomas Watson Ogletree of Union Point, Georgia. Margaret and Thomas met when they were both employed at the F.B.I.  She received congratulatory letters from J. Edgar Hoover after the births of both of her sons.

The family of four moved to Tampa, Florida in 1957, where her husband began work for the Tampa Police Department, and then the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office.  In 1986, Margaret moved to Buford, Georgia where she resided with her husband and youngest son for 28 years.  Margaret attended 1st Baptist Church in Snellville for a number of years, where her son Donnie could participate in the church’s special needs ministry. After a year of living in Lawrenceville, Margaret moved to Colorado Springs.

Margaret is survived by her sons, David Thomas Ogletree (Adele Ogletree), and Donald “Donnie” Curtis Ogletree, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandsons Dave Ogletree of Portland, Oregon, and Johnathan Ogletree of Welches, Oregon; grand-daughter Capt. Brittany Morton, USAF; great-grandaughter Cheyenne; and a great number of nephews and nieces.

For 63 of the last 64 years, Margaret dedicated her life to care for her son Donnie, until her health no longer allowed her to do so. She was Donnie’s strong advocate at a time when options for people with Down Syndrome were limited.

A memorial service will be held at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford, Georgia on Saturday, June 2nd at 11:00 a.m.  There will be a reception afterwards. Interment will follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
