Jimmy Neil Bennett

Mr. Jimmy Neil Bennett, age 84 of Gainesville, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness.

            Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, July 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Reverend Scott Sorrells, Reverend Jeff Wilkie and Mr. A. J. Bennett will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 2 – 6 pm at the funeral home.

            Mr. Bennett was born August 7, 1933 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Jim Berry Bennett and Lynett Amanda Owen Bennett.  He was retired from the Gainesville Post Office as a mail handler for 30 years and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  Jimmy was a great man who loved his children, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.

            Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Bennett of Gainesville, his daughter & son-in-law, Mary Ellen & Felton Davis of Murrayville, son & daughter-in-law, Alan & Vivian Bennett of Gainesville, his grandchildren, Jessica & John Deaton of Lula and A. J. & Brooke Bennett of Rome, Georgia, his great-grandchildren, Jonathan Deaton and Blakelyn Bennett and Beckett Bennett, his sister & brother-in-law, Lugene & Bradley Bagwell of Gainesville and his sister, Lorene Veal of Buford.

            Special thanks to the friends who assisted the family in his care and the staff of Northeast Georgia Hospice.
