Iris Sosebee Summitt

Iris Sosebee Summitt, age 69, of Flowery Branch, GA passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Dewitt Sosebee. Mrs. Summitt is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Sidney C. Summitt, Flowery Branch, GA;  children, Melissa Jo and Richard Shelton, Lawrenceville, GA, and Joseph Craig and Natasha Summitt, Cleveland, GA; nine grandchildren, Andrew Clark Smallwood, Sidney Cole Smallwood and wife Sarah, Hannah Ellis, Jake Bruce, Chelsey Queen, Nate Summitt, Mason Summitt, Donald Shelton, and Matthew Shelton; two great grandchildren, Micah Queen and Emmett Zinyard; mother, Dorothy “Dot” Chadwick, Flowery Branch, GA; brothers, Gary Sosebee and wife Roberta, Dillard, GA, Joel Sosebee, Lula, GA, and Jeff Sosebee, Cleveland, GA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Summitt was born on September 18, 1948 in Gainesville, GA. She was a 1966 graduate of South Hall High School, and she was a homemaker. Mrs.Summitt was a member of Crossview Baptist Church in Hoschton, GA.

A Celebration of Life Service for Iris Summitt will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Ashworth officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 18 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Thursday, July 19 from 2:00 p.m. until time for the service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossview Baptist Church for Christmas in a Shoebox Fund, 1219 Hwy 124, Hoschton, GA 30548 in memory of Iris Summitt.
