Stanley William Hill

Obituary Date: Thursday, August 16, 2018

Mr. Stanley William Hill, a.k.a. Superheavy, age 70, of Gainesville passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Stanley will Lie-in-State 1:00 - 2:00p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018 with Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Hopewell Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at Harmony Hall Baptist Church Cemetery.  Rev. Dwight Joy, Rev. Clack Stubbs and Rev. Gary Wilson will officiate.  The family will receive friends 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2018 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Stanley was born July 13, 1948 to the late Jessie Elmer & Hilda Smith Hill in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and retired from General Motors after 29 ½ years, where he worked on the Assembly Line. He also worked for many years on Church Missions, both home and foreign.

Stanley loved his family, UGA Football and his Hopewell Church family, but most of all God.  He is known worldwide for his “Rooster Crow”.  Even though the cancer was rough on his body, it did not affect his humor or testimony.  His saying was “God’s got this”!

Stanley is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Henslee & Caroline Hill of Gainesville; grandchildren, Charlie Hill and Mallory Hill; brother Stephen Hill of Cleveland; sisters & brothers-in-law, Kathy & Buddy Shelnutt of High Shoals and Cheryl & Wendell Grizzle of Gainesville; and sister, Jackie Dunagan of Cleveland.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennifer Hunt Hill; daughter, Meranda Hill, and his parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to R-U-4 Missions, P.O. Box 7432, Chestnut Mountain, Georgia 30502.
