Wilmatine English Smith

Mrs. Wilmatine English Smith, age 88 of Atlanta, GA, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Dekalb Medical Center.

A daughter of the late Raleigh and Nannie Hooper English, she was born August 18, 1930 in Toccoa, Ga. having lived for most of her life in Atlanta. She was employed in the news media business for a number of years and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer M. Smith, a daughter, Barbara Ritter, and by two sons, Jerry English and Douglas English.

She is survived by four daughters, Shirley Smith of Atlanta, Ga., Caroline Smith and Susan James both of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Eunice Gibson of Greenville, South Carolina, and also by fifteen grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Monday, October 1, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Monday.
