Harriet Elizabeth “Pendy” Bailey

Mrs. Harriet Elizabeth “Pendy” Bailey age 92 of Saffron Drive, Dunwoody Georgia passed away Thursday October 11, 2018 at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. 

A daughter of the late James Fletcher and Harriet Bolt Pendergrass, she was born June 30, 1926 in Anderson County, South Carolina. She spent her childhood in Gainesville, Georgia and was a graduate of Brenau College. She began her career as a teacher in Toccoa, Georgia. She continued her education and teaching career at the University of Georgia while receiving her Masters Degree in Speech Pathology. She continued her career in the Dekalb County Georgia school system while residing in Dunwoody Georgia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William K. Bailey and her brother James Fletcher Pendergrass II.

Survivors include a nephew Paul Pendergrass of Star Prairie, Wisconsin; two nieces, Adrienne Wallace of Rock Hill South Carolina and Dina Bailey of Oveida, Florida.

Graveside services will be Friday, October 19, 2018, 2 O’clock p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery, Anderson, South Carolina with The Reverend Dock Hollingsworth officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday, 10 a.m. until noon. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Harriet Elizabeth Bailey.
