Mr. Early Newton Rider, age 97 of Old Liberty Hill Road, Toccoa passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at his residence.
A son of the late Clarence O. and Martha Spencer Rider, he was born July 1, 1921 on Black Mountain in Stephens County. He attended Lakeview School and Old Toccoa Baptist Church during his early years. He was a World War II Army Veteran (1942-1946). He was a faithful member of Sunnyside Baptist Church since 1952 and a member of the Sonshine Sunday School Class. He was ordained as a deacon in 1963 and served as an usher for many years. He was a retired welder from WABCO after 35 years of service and was a member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ora Lee Ward Rider in 2009, and by his siblings, Jessie Long, John Rider, Joe Rider, Victorene Long and Sara Howard
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Nancy Rider Killingworth and husband, Ray of Cartersville, Georgia and Connie Rider McClain of Spartanburg, South Carolina; granddaughter, Heather McClain White of Woodruff, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Jackson Davis McCraw and Marley Kate McCraw of Woodruff, South Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 16, 2018, 11 O’clock a.m. at Sunnyside Baptist Church with The Reverend Dr. Jesse Colbert and The Reverend Roy Rogers officiating.
The family will receive friends at Sunnyside Baptist Church on Friday, 9 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with The Reverend Bill Evans officiating. Military honors at the graveside by the Georgia National Guard Honor Guard, V.F.W. Post 4346 Honor Guard and Mr. William Tucker.
