Maudell “Dell” Huey

Dell Huey, age 89, died November 20, 2018. A native of Gainesville, GA, she moved to Atlanta as a young woman where she met the love of her life, Harold Huey. Dell and Harold were married for 51 years, living in Decatur and Snellville, until his death in 1998. Dell was a wonderful cook whose recipes are still being enjoyed by her family. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed visiting Hawaii, Alaska, and Canada in her later years. Dell was a longtime member of Zoar United Methodist Church in Snellville. There, she was active in Zoar’s “Second Milers” group. For the past six years, Dell resided at the Resting Nest Personal Care Home in Gainesville.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Hal) Gill of Snellville, her grandson Taylor (Madeline) Gill of Charlotte, N.C., her granddaughter, Alyssa Gill of Snellville, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express its gratitude to Dell’s niece, Lisa Dishman, her husband Joel Dishman, and the special caregivers at the Resting Nest who provided a loving home for Dell for the past six years.

Visitation for Mrs. Huey will be Friday November 23, from 11-2 p.m. with Funeral Services to follow in the Chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Private family burial will take place at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville.
