Joseph Fredrick Walcher

Joseph Fredrick Walcher 63, of Cumming, Ga passed away on November 19, 2018.

Joe graduated from Southwood High School Shreveport, La. and Northeast Louisiana University, Monroe, La. Joe excelled and lettered in basketball while in high school and was a scholarship player at NLU. Growing up, Joe spent many days fishing with his beloved father on Toledo Bend Resivoir. Joe’s first challenge, of course, was enduring life with four sisters.

He began his career at AT&T in Benton, Ark. where he met and married Carol Hill, his adored and patient wife of 37 years. He retired at Nokia as a treasury analyst. Joe discovered his true passion for golf after moving to Cumming, Ga. He made many dear friends at the Chestatee Golf Club and was happiest with a golf club in hand, rain or shine.

Ben, Joes son, remained the apple of his eye. Joe was amused, challenged and entertained by Ben, and their adventures were his greatest joy.

Joseph is predeceased in death by his parents George and Mary Lou Walcher.

He is survived by his loving wife  Carol. Mother-in-law Patsy Sims. Son; Benjamin Walcher (Elizabeth). Siblings; Linda Jones (Quentin), Laura Wilkerson (Michael), Jenny Rawlinson, and Terry Harding. Grandson; Van Walcher. Numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members also survive.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 1-3pm at McDonald and Son Funeral Home.
