Mary Lee Jordan Thomason

Mrs. Mary Lee Jordan Thomason, age 93 of Brookstone Drive, Toccoa passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at her residence.

A daughter of the late Albert Barton Jordan and Mary Maude Lee Jordan, she was born May 22, 1925 in Lawrenceville, Georgia having lived most of her life in Toccoa. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia in 1946 with a teaching degree. She taught school for the Gwinnett County School System and the Toccoa City Schools. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Toccoa and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She served in many areas of the church as Sunday School Teacher, Training Union Director, Ladies Circle, helped organized the XYZ Senior Program, Leader for the Sunbeams and GA’s and many community youth activities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Marion Thomason.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Kenneth Payne and Laura and Russell Biggers both of Toccoa; son and daughter-in-law, Al and Pam Thomason of Toccoa; grandchildren, Laura K. Payne, Emilee & Blake Fulbright, Stewart Thomason, Stanley Thomason, Mason Biggers; great-grandson, Wynn Fulbright; sister, Barbara Sorrells of Charlotte, North Carolina; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 14, 2018, 2 O’clock p.m. at the First Baptist Church with The Reverend David Ritcey and The Reverend Dr. Henry Fields officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Allan Johnson, Barry Franklin, George Petty, Ed Cooper, Bart Sorrells, Buster Smith and Joe Sewell. Honorary pallbearers will be Hill Jordan and Francis Gardner and the honorary pallbearers should assemble at the church by 1:30 p.m.

The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Memorial Chapel on Friday from noon until the service time. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 475 E. Tugalo Street, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 in memory of Mrs. Mary Lee Jordan Thomason.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Mary Lee Jordan Thomason.
