Mary Owen Sowers

Mary Owen Sowers, age 91, of Buford, GA and formerly of Forest Park, GA passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Larry Dean Sowers; sons, Lawrence Charles Sowers and Eric Owen Sowers. She is survived by her children, Sharon and James Jones, Lake City, FL, Lauren and Andrew Wigley, Cumming, GA, Gaye and Michael Smith, Hoschton, GA and Shelley and David Murray, Newnan, GA; daughter-in-law, Luz Marina Sowers, Flowery Branch, GA; eleven grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren. Mrs. Sowers was born October 10, 1927 in Atlanta, GA. She was a homemaker and also had worked for Emory University College where she was a secretary. She played the piano in the Beginners Dept. at The Baptist Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA. She was a church secretary for a number of years. Mrs. Sowers was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Stockbridge, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Nation of the First Baptist Church of Flowery Branch, GA officiating. Interment will be at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Atlanta, GA at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 30^th from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
