William J. “Bill” McIlwain

William J. “Bill” McIlwain, age 87, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019.  He was preceded in death by son, Bobby McIlwain, and first wife, Bernice McIlwain.  Mr. McIlwain is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Ellen Murphree McIlwain, Lawrenceville, GA; children, Bill McIlwain, Jr, and Beth; David McIlwain and Laurie; Kelly McIlwain and Trisha; Judy and Gerald Moore; Jeannie McIlwain Keyes; Anthony McIlwain and Jeri; Mary and Mike Boyd; Katie and Ken Jones; John McIlwain and Carmen; Kristi McIlwain; step-children, Cyndi and Jack Ashbaugh, Gary Gay and Robin, David Gay; forty-two grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; brother, Samuel McIlwain; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. McIlwain was born on October 1, 1931 in Great Falls, SC. He was a veteran of the Air Force, served during the Korean War, and was an aircraft mechanic. Mr. McIlwain was  retired from North American Van Lines where he was regional manager.  He was a member of Shadowbrook Baptist Church and was also a Gideon.  A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Bill McIlwain officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box  140800, Nashville, TN 37214 in memory of Bill McIlwain.
