Ezra Byrd Maddox

Ezra Byrd Maddox, age, 87, of  Buford, GA passed away Monday, February 4, 2019. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Marie “Sister” Parker Maddox; grandson, Justin Lee Maddox; parents, Lula Bell Maddox and Ernest Maddox; twin brother, Emory P. Maddox, brothers, E. A. Maddox, Chester E. Maddox, John Henry Maddox, Gene Maddox, Anderson (Andy) Maddox, J. E. Maddox, Carl Maddox; sisters, Louise Maddox McDaniel, Reba Maddox.  Mr. Maddox was survived by children, Angela Brooks, Cumming, GA, Mitchell Maddox and Valerie Armstrong, Commerce, GA, Barry L. Maddox, Buford, GA, Pamela Whidby, Buford, GA, Kim Bryan Haynes and Terry Haynes, Hull, GA; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Thurman and Brenda Maddox, Commerce, GA; sisters, Flossie Cofer, Louena and Billy Titshaw, Marjorie and Johnny Sudderth, all of Buford, GA, Barbara and Doug Stephens, Gainesville, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; his beloved caregiver, Christina Armstrong.  Mr. Maddox was born March 16, 1931 in Buford, GA.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.  Mr. Maddox was retired from General Motors Assembly Plant, in Doraville.  He was a member of  the U. A. W. Local 10.  Mr. Maddox was a member and deacon of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Buford, GA.  He did numerous other jobs during his work career including the City of Buford and Bona Allen Harness Factory.  Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Pratt and Rev. Cecil Ash officiating.  Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetary.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019 and 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2019, at the funeral home.
