Betty L. Skelton

Betty L. Skelton, 86, of Gainesville passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at New Horizon’s Lanier Park following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Allison, Rev. Lamar Purcell, Rev. Doug Forrester and Rev. Levi Nix officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 8, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born on June 10, 1932 in Hoschton, she was the daughter of the late G.C and Viola Boggs Swancey. A faithful, dedicated wife and mother, she was a homemaker and a member of Temple Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Skelton is preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Franklin.

Mrs. Skelton is survived by her husband of 68 years, Rev. Hoyt Skelton of Gainesville; son and daughter in law, Terry and Martha Skelton of Gainesville; daughters, Kathy Proto of Dawsonville, Sheryl Radford of Gainesville; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Martha Crowe of Winder and a number of other relatives.
