Yvonne Parker

Memorial services are scheduled for Sunday April 7, 2019 at 3 p.m. for Yvonne Parker, 76, of Gillsville. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Parker passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2019

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, Yvonne was born on January 20th in Withersea, England, she had fond memories of growing up on the shore of the North Sea. In 1964, she met a young American man in the military, William (Bill) Parker, after a brief courtship they became engaged. Yvonne traveled by steamship to the United States, and Yvonne and Bill got married in Ringold, GA on January 12, 1965.

Apart from a brief time in Texas, Yvonne and Bill built a life together in Georgia. Together they had two daughters, Janine and Hollie. They had a full family life, taking weekend car rides into the North Ga. Mountains and  enjoying family activities together.

Yvonne had an entrepreneurial spirit. She was partner in a pizzeria called Rubiaans Pizza in Helen, GA. She then later found a niche in children's clothing and opened up a children's clothing store, Kids Stop in Gainesville. 

In her later years, Yvonne loved spending time with her three grandsons,

Meleech, Brett and Jack. She loved going to their school and sporting events, taking them to local parks and having them come for sleepovers at Nana's house.

One of Yvonne's favorite places to visit was Jekyll Island. The coastline and beach reminded her of childhood spent by the sea in England. Yvonne and her family would visit every summer. 

Yvonne will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
