Joseph (Joel) Norrie Marcantel, III of Cumming died on April 27, 2019 at Northside Hospital-Forsyth after a short illness. Joel was born on June 23, 1970 in Austin, Texas but moved to Atlanta as a small child and grew up in East Cobb. Joel was a 1988 graduate of Wheeler High School and a 1993 graduate of Georgia Southern University. He spent his working career in sales and marketing in the Atlanta area.
Joel was a loving father, son, brother, and friend; he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Joel’s zest for life and positive attitude was contagious and attracted all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Marcantel, his paternal grandparents Virginia and Norrie Marcantel and his maternal grandparents Alice and Huey Williamson.
Joel is survived by his sons, Parker, Conner and Jackson Marcantel and their mother, Amy Hasty of Sugar Hill; his mother, Beverly Marcantel of Cumming; his sister, Brooke Marcantel Nugent of Scottsdale, Arizona; his nephew, Carson Nugent, nieces, Piper and Hagan Nugent of Scottsdale; aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins and close friends.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 30 at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church at 4385 Lower Roswell Road in Marietta, https://mtbethel.org/. A reception for family and friends will follow at the church.
