Evelyn Nelle Tarpley Bennett

Mrs. Evelyn Nelle Tarpley Bennett, 94, of Gainesville passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Self officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m.

Mrs. Bennett was born on April 18, 1925 in Seneca, SC, but grew up primarily in Blairsville, GA. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Nelle Foster Tarpley. She worked as an Office Manager for several orthopedic groups before retiring.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bennett is preceded in death by her sister, Lillian Lance.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Debra and Steve Hughes of Gainesville, and Sandra and Shaun Grate of Marietta; grandsons and wives, Kinsey and Tiffany Hughes of Gainesville, Austin and Ciera Hughes of Cleveland; grandsons, Jared and Adam Grate of Marietta; great granddaughters, Eden Hughes and Sterling Hughes, both of Cleveland; great grandson, Liam Hughes of Gainesville; and favorite nieces, Carole Shupe and Jacquelyn Hill of Blairsville, and a number of other relatives.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Georgia Baptist Children’s Home or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
