Mr. Homer Edwin Brown, 87, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 5 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday September 8 at the main level chapel First Baptist Church Cumming.  The Reverend Dr. Bob Jolly and Senior minister, Ken Danuser, will officiate.  Interment will be in Sawnee View Gardens with full military honors.  The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Saturday September 7 from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 and 5:00 - 8:00.

Born on April 19, 1932 in Atlanta, he was the oldest son of the late Alex Edwin Brown and Mary Dempsey Brown.  Mr. Brown was a retired fork-lift mechanic from General Motors Parts Division and spent many years of his retirement restoring classic Chevy’s.

Homer served in the United States Marine Corp in Korea and was discharged with the rank of Sargent.  He was an active member of the Unity Class and First Baptist Church Cumming.

Homer Brown had a lifelong love of cars.  As a very young man, he completely took apart a Model T and put it back together in one day.  As a young adult he loved racing at the Peachbowl weekly and at a variety of stock car tracks in North Georgia.  During his retirement years he restored 18 classic chevy’s, mostly 1955, and assisted in many others.  Homer was also an avid golf enthusiast.  Even in his 80’s, he played an average of once a week.

Mr. Brown is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 65 years, his sister, Mary Kincade and late husband, Bill Kincade; brother, Bobby Brown; sister-in-law Leona (Bobby) Brown; daughter and son-in-law  Donna and Ronnie Pinson; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Keith Martin; grandchildren, Russell Pinson; Brandon Pinson and wife Cherish; Alex Martin; Jenna Bolton and husband Ben Bolton.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist building fund or the Wounded Warrior Project.
