Jerry Hawkins

Jerry Hal Hawkins age 83 of Gillsville passed away Tuesday Oct. 15, 2019 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Mr. Hawkins was born in Gillsville to the late Fred & Nanalean Griffin Hawkins. Hal served his Country in the United States Army being stationed in Germany. He was a retired master plumber from C & H Mechanical but had worked with several companies over his career. He was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church. Hal enjoyed hunting, car racing & most of all his family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dick Hawkins.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Hazel Reed Hawkins, son & daughter in law, David & Melissa Hawkins of Covington, daughter & son in law, Karen & Adam Sibcy of Maysville, brother & sister in law, Jack & Diane Hawkins of Gillsville, grandchildren, A.J. & Phydan Sibcy of Jefferson, Mary Katherine Sibcy of Maysville & Caleb Hawkins of Covington, one great grandchild, Joseph Bass Sibcy of Jefferson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday Oct. 17, 2019 at the Ward’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marshall Dale officiating. Burial will follow in the Hawkins Family Cemetery at Timberridge Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 3-5 & 6-8 Wednesday Oct. 16, 2019 at the funeral home.
