James Edwin “Jim” Clayton

James Edwin “Jim” Clayton, 79, of Gainesville passed away Friday, October 18, 2019 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Born on October 27, 1939 in Alexander City, AL he was the son of the late James Boyd and Georgia Futral Clayton. He was retired from the Franklin County School System where he worked in School Administration. Jim attended the University of Georgia where he earned his Master’s Degree and after, he earned his Doctorate Degree in Psychology from Pacific University. Jim and his wife attended Gainesville First United Methodist Church.

Dr. Clayton is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gail Seyfert Clayton of Gainesville; daughter and son in law, Kim and Ron Lankford of Lithia Springs; son and daughter in law, John and Sue Clayton of Wake Forest, NC; daughter and son in law, Lara (Rachel) Wallace and Kevin Wallace of Gainesville; son and daughter in law, Michael and Gigi Clayton of Gainesville; grandchildren, Robby Clayton (and his wife Charlotte), Colleen Sharp, Claudia Clayton, Zachary Lankford, Ryan Clayton, Erin Clayton, Josiah Wallace, Jeremiah Wallace; great grandchildren, Emma Clayton, Lilly Clayton. Jim was known as Brother to his sister, Anita Stewart; brother, Robert Clayton; sister, Jeris Hall; brother, Wayne Clayton; sister, Elaine Gibson and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
