George Aycock

Obituary Date: Monday, December 9, 2019

George Thomas Aycock, age 86, of Alto, GA, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019, following an extended illness.

Mr. Aycock was born in Anderson, SC, on September 25, 1933, to the late James and Ruth Aycock.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Pauline Aycock;  daughter, Alisa Dolores Aycock Thomas;  Brothers, Bill, Charles, Melvin, and Jerry Aycock, and  Buddy Griffith.

Mr. Aycock was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.  He was retired from Schnadig with 46 years of loyal and dedicated service.

Survivors include:  his beloved wife of 64 years, Verna  Aycock, Alto, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Donna Aycock, Aiken, SC; son-in-law, Tim Thomas, Alto, GA;  two sisters, Mayzelle Mauldin, Mt. Airy, GA and Claudette Aycock, Cornelia, GA;  Grandchildren:  Rylee Thomas, Corey Aycock and wife, Kimberly and  Katie Reynolds; Great-grandchildren:  Ainslee Aycock and Quinn Reynolds.  

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 12, 2019  at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev Raymond Fortner officiating.

Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Whitfield Funeral Home from 4:00  pm until 6:00 pm, on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Alto Baptist Church or New Hope Baptist Church, or the charity of one's choice.
