James Lemuel Bracewell, Jr.

It is with great sadness that the family of James Lemuel Bracewell, Jr. announces his passing after a brief illness, on Monday, December 23, 2019 at the age of 75 years.

Known by his friends as Jimmy, he was born in El Paso Texas on January 25, 1944 during a rare snow storm to parents James Lemuel Bracewell and Susan Penelope Crawford. Jim grew up in Toccoa, Georgia and was a graduate of Toccoa High School. After completing a degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia, he followed his Army officer father into the military, serving in active duty in the Navy from 1965 to 1968 and continuing in Reserves for many years before retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Following his time in the service, Jim spent time raising his family and coaching his boys in baseball. In 1983 he served as President of the Toccoa Little League.

He is survived by his sister Jane Greneker of Marietta, Georgia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Neal and Janice Bracewell of Redondo Beach, California, and Matt and Wendy Bracewell of Chattanooga, TN; four grandchildren, Allen, Joel, Cameron and Katie Bracewell.

A service in Jim’s memory will be held in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Scott Harding officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday, December 27 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. James Bracewell, Jr.
