Merla Sawyer

Merla Sawyer, 82, of Oakwood passed away Monday, February 10, 2020 at her residence following a period of declining health.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Jack Chalmers will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Born on November 24, 1937 in Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late Young and Bessie Cagle Martin. She was a retired bookkeeper for Carroll Daniel Construction and was also employed with Panoz Development for a number of years. She was a member of The Church on the Hill in Braselton.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sawyer is preceded in death by her husbands, Lee Rogers Reed, Uel Sawyer; son, Dennis Martin Reed and brother, Jerry Martin.

Mrs. Sawyer is survived by her daughter and son in law, Cindy and Kenneth Edge of Braselton; son and daughter in law, Dwight and Pamela Reed of Braselton; son and daughter in law, Dwayne and Elaine Reed of Auburn, GA; step son and wife, Ricardo and Teri Sawyer of Flowery Branch; sisters, Charlotte Gonzalez of Jefferson, Lawanna Luther of Lula; grandchildren, Jamie Nicole Underwood of Flowery Branch, Bruce Cronic of Braselton, Joshua Reed of Flowery Branch, Jeremy Reed of Dahlonega, Candace Heaton of Jefferson, Tori Reed of Auburn, GA; 9 great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
