Fanny Theresa Rodriguez-Viera

Obituary Date: Friday, March 20, 2020

Fanny Theresa Rodriguez-Viera was born on December 21st ,1949 in Montevideo, Uruguay. Fanny was raised in a large family; she was one of 8 children of Iria and Benigno Rodriguez. She was the first of all of her siblings to come to the United States of America, to pursue life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Fanny had many occupations but, where she felt most loved and appreciated was at Sims Academy of Innovation as a custodian. She would come home and express how kind they were to her, and in her eyes, it was not just a job, but it was a place where she made a difference. When Fanny became a citizen of the United States of America, her Sims family threw her the biggest surprise party honoring this monumental moment in her life.

Fanny was a member of Victory Church for many years. Fanny was known for her giving heart. She gave towards missions, disaster relief, food drives, and volunteered at many events. When it came to her family, giving knew no limit.

Fanny loved shopping. It was no secret that her closet was always filled with new clothes that still have tags on them and many different perfumes. Fanny always had a spunky and tenacious spirit that made everyone laugh and think “That’s just Fanny!”. She always cared about making sure everyone felt loved, included, and taken care of.

There are many things that bring comfort to the soul, and Fanny’s cooking was always the most satisfying. Whether it was family get-togethers, going to the park to drink mate, or just a rainy day... Fanny would always be baking something special for the family.

Our life as we knew it has changed and will never be the same. Fanny never wanted us to worry about her and joy was the most important thing to her. Through our process of mourning and grief, I know Fanny would want everyone to find comfort in her joy, in her laughter, and in her saying “Don’t worry, Be Happy”.  We miss you greatly Fanny, and you will forever have a special place in the hearts of those you came in contact with.

Fanny is survived by her brothers, Leo Rodriguez, Marcelo Rodriguez; sisters, Rocio Rodriguez, Brenda Rodriguez, Beatriz Rodriguez, Rosario Escudero; nieces, Noelia Haygood, Silvanna Rodriguez, Daniela Lopez, Carla Burns, Gabriela Rodriguez, Carolina Escobar, Savanna Rodriguez, Joanna Rodriguez, Angelina Rodriguez, Virgina Rodriguez, Alejandra Rodriguez, Diana Rodriguez; nephews, Emmanuel Britos, Maximilano Rodriguez; great nieces, Sarah Cuevas, Emily Campa, Vanessa Haygood, Isabella Haygood, Abigail Burns, Charlotte Burns, Emma Cardona, Vanessa Rodriguez; great nephews, Noah Lopez, Jeremiah Lopez, Adrian Castro, Gustavo Campa, Matias Rodriguez, Joshua Cardona, Jacob Cardona.
