MURRAYVILLE - The North Hall girls softball team completed its first-ever undefeated regular season region schedule with a 13-1, five-inning win over Gainesville Tuesday afternoon.
The have played in classifications from Class AA to Class AAAA but had never accomplished the feat before this year.
"I think it's just a credit to how hard these girls have worked all year," coach Roger Fannon said. "They earned it."
The Lady Trojans (22-4, 10-0 in Region 7-AAA) got a complete-game, two-hitter from Cheryl Case. She struck out 9 batters to improve to 10-2 on the season.
Haley Bower and Amy Smith each had two triples to lead the North Hall attack. Bower finished with 4 RBI and Smith three.
Mary Lynn Romine went 2-for-3 with a triple and one RBI.
Kita Waller scored the Gainesville (1-13, 1-9) run on a groundout after smacking a triple.
North Hall will be the top seed for the sure-to-be competitive Region 7-AAA Tournament, which begins next Tuesday at the Lanier Point Softball Complex.
"Hopefully we can keep up the pace (next week)," Fannon said. "It's going to be a great tournament. I see five teams with a chance to win the whole things."
The top four teams will move on to the state sectionals.
