Two projects would add 272 housing units to Gainesville

By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - Two applications that go before the Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board next month could lead to the construction of almost 300 new housing units in the city.

The first involves 82 acres at Athens Highway and Wilson Drive where a 165-lot subdivision is planned.

The other site is at McEver and Stephens roads where 107 town houmes are planned.

Also on the December 9 agenda are annexation requests for two sites at McEver Road and Hillside Garden Lane near McDonald and Son Funeral Home. A two-story office building is planned on one tract and an office/warehouse complex on the other.

In addition, the planning commission will be asked to consider a rezoning request for a tract at Downey Boulevard and Jesse Jewell Parkway where a convenience store and other retail space are planned.
