A Gainesville man was seriously injured following a stabbing incident over the weekend.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a residence on the 3100 block of Barrett Rd. at 5 a.m. Saturday. Authorities began rendering aid to the victim , Pedro Cucuy-Quib, 39, who had suffered stab or cutting wounds to his face and under an arm.
An initial investigation revealed a male roommate of Cucuy-Quib assaulted him with a knife and left the residence on foot. Deputies secured the scene, and an HCSO K9 team conducted a search for the suspect, but did not locate him, HCSO said. Investigators believed the suspect may have been consuming alcohol.
The department said investigators have preliminary identification on the suspect in the case, but are waiting for confirmation. The incident was isolated.
