GHCC calls for passage of school SPLOST referendum

By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - As expected, this summer's Hall County school sales tax referendum has won an endorsement from the Gainesville area's leading business group.

The board of directors of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce has approved a resolution calling for passage of the referendum.

The county school system would get the lion's share of anticipated sales tax revenues - $166 million. The Gainesvile and Buford school systems would share the rest. A five-year extension of the SPLOST would raise about $197 million.

The referendum will be on the July 18 primary election ballots.
