GAINESVILLE - It was a very special Birthday celebration Sunday at the Northeast Georgia History Center for a lady who loves education.<br />

It was a surprise birthday present for Ada Mae Ivester from New Holland with the announcement coming from Dr. Patricia Byrd, president of the History Center Board of Trustees.<br />

"Ada Mae, the Northeast Georgia History Center is proud to announce the naming of our newly created education center, the Ada Mae Ivester Education Resource Room," Dr. Byrd said.<br />
<br />
Mrs. Ivester said it was a total surprise; she knew about the birthday cake, but not the Education Center, which museum director Glen Kyle said would provide a multi-use area for class rooms, seminars and activities for a wide rages of audiences, with the focus to be on school children from throughout Northeast Georgia.<br />
<br />
"Every time we have a school group come here now, we're going to have a place to be able to sit them down and start them out to prepare them for a tour of the entire facility," Kyle said.<br />
<br />
"It's great and so many people will be touched by it, that's the main thing," Mrs. Ivester said.<br />
<br />
The surprise birthday present came from her son Doug Ivester, former President and CEO of Coca Cola, who grew up in the New Holland community.<br />
<br />
"My mother was always a great proponent of education," Ivester said.â
