SAUTEE-NACOOCHEE - Yonah Mountain Vineyards, the newest vineyard and winery in Northeast Georgia, has opened its tasting room to pour and sell wine on Highway 17 in Sautee-Nacoochee.

The tasting room, one of three storefronts in the new 2454 plaza, opened in May
of this year. It features a bar, hand-crafted from barrel staves of the 2006
Yonah Mountain Vineyards Genesis. A mural behind the bar by local artist James
Williams depicts the vineyard, which is located off of Highway 255 near Cleveland in White County.

At this time, six locally made wines are available at the Yonah Mountain
Vineyards tasting room: a white, a rose', three reds and a desert wine. They are 2008 Serenity Cellars Viognier, Serenity Cellars Radiance, 2005 Serenity Cellars Harmony, 2006 Serenity Cellars Majestic, 2006 Yonah Mountain Vineyards Genesis, and 2005 Serenity Cellars Felicity.

Serenity Cellars wines are a joint venture between winemaker Joe Smith and his wife Tina, and Bob and Jane Miller, owners of Yonah Mountain Vineyards.

The tasting room is open Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. -6:00 p.m. and Sunday, 12:30 - 6:00 p.m. The first Friday of each month features live music, appetizers and extended hours. For more information and directions to the tasting room, call the tasting room at 706/878-5522.
